Anthony Akinbola wanted to use Filippo Sorcinelli Reliqvia because it's a scent made with narratives attached to them which the artist also feels is art in of itself. This story behind Filippo Sorcinelli Reliqvia speaks to some of the themes in the show. Mainly religion, memory, and the idea of what remains after life, faith, and time.
The machine releasing the fragrance makes the artist think of the exhale of breath and how it's limited, similar to the balloons also slowly losing breath or air as they descend to the ground.
In the same way the perfumer expects the wearer to embody these ideas in mood when they put the scent on is the same way the artist wants the exhibition to embody these ideas complimented by the fragrance.
